The collection contains materials related to Arkansas's African American history. It includes material relating to church, school, and miscellaneous programs, and fraternal organizations. It also includes programs and journals of the Arkansas Teachers' Association (A.T.A.). The Arkansas Teachers' Association was a professional organization for Arkansas's African American teachers. It was established in 1898 on the campus of Branch Normal College, now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. In Nov. 1968, the Arkansas Teachers' Association held its last convention in Hot Springs, Ark., and merged with the Arkansas Education Association (A.E.A.) on 1 July 1969.

Archie Moore, Jr., was born in Little Rock, Ark. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Moore has been employed with the U.S. Postal Service since 1989. He is also an antique dealer and collector who specializes in Black Americana.
